This is an annual fundraiser done by the Lions Club of Eagle. You buy a small plastic cane for a donation of any amount. The funds will be used for programs ranging from eye problems to help with the food bank. The hours this Saturday are from 9 am to 1 pm and it will only be at the Eagle Albertsons Store.

Salvation ArmyThe Holiday season is approaching and that means the Kettle Drive for the Salvation Army will be kicking off on November 20th and the Angel Trees will also be placed about the same time. The Angel tree is very simple just take a tag from the tree and fulfill the request. If you need assistance for the Christmas Season you should come to the Thrift Store on State Street and Wiley Lane. The hours for sign up are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Wednesday.

This is not just a job fair it is a networking and resource opportunity. If you need help the social agencies will be available and if you want to give your time you can network. Boise Public LibraryThe annual Fall Holiday book sale is this weekend at the Boise Public Library. This is a fundraiser for the library by selling off surplus and donated books, music, movies, and computer software. The sale opens this morning at 9 am and runs through 7 pm. Tomorrow the hours are 9 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from noon to 4 with half price on all remaining items.

O'Connor Field HouseA free Senior Health Fair is being offered today in the Caldwell area at the O'Connor Field house. This one day only event opens at 8:00 am and will end at 2:00 pm. Information about every aspect about health care and answers about on going health issues will be offered. Everyone is welcome to attend even though it's called a Senior Health Fair.

FramedThe Mad Hatter's hat and wig donation project starts this Saturday with a kick-off event at Framed in Meridian from noon to 4 pm. Gently used hats and wigs are being sought for those who are being treated for cancer. The donations are being accepted through October 31st and there are several locations. Country Inn SuitesA special donation drive is underway today for the WCA, the Women's and Children's Alliance. Zack Bennett was moved by a news report about the plight of the children at the temporary shelter and wanted to help. He teamed with Planet Beach and Showcase Limos to gather donations. The WCA needs diapers and baby wipes but any donations including cash will help. You can bring the donations to the Country Inn Suites off Pine and Eagle road all day today (Thursday, October 15th) or any Planet Beach Location.

Nampa Civic CenterThe Senior Faire is this Saturday the 17th at the Nampa Civic Center. This is a free event for everyone with refreshments, prizes and information for seniors and where they are in life. The day will feature seminars about everything from health care to reverse mortgages. In addition there will be entertainment and Celtic Fusion will be presented. There is a charge for this portion but a discount is being offered to seniors for the matinee. Celtic Fusion will also have a 7 pm performance.

Stagecoach Theatre"The Art of Murder" is the latest production for Stagecoach Theatre. This is a thriller and has two more weeks for you to catch this October special. You can call the box office at 342-2000 to reserve your tickets ahead of time. The theatre is located in the covered portion of the Hillcrest Shopping Center just off the intersection of Overland and Orchard. The show times are this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and a matinee on Sunday then next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

Firebird RacewayThe Halloween Classic Drag Races are on at Firebird Raceway this weekend. The featured races are the Top Gun Shootout which features the fastest Door Slammers against the Top Open Wheel cars. There will also be full Halloween fun with trick or treating for the kids and a costume contest for the adults as well as the children. Racing action wraps up on Sunday.

Expo IdahoFour days worth of dog shows are taking place at Expo Idaho Fairgrounds. This is the annual Treasure Valley Dog Shows and there are dogs from all over the country in attendance. These shows will features all breeds of dogs and are sponsored by two local clubs. The cost is $2 per person or $5 per family for each day's show. The action starts each day at 8:30 am. Please don't bring your own dog as only dogs registered for the show are allowed.

Dillard'sThe annual "Fit for the Cure" is this Friday at Dillard's in Boise Towne Square. This is a one day event from 10 am to 8 pm and for every fitting Wacoal will make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help with Breast Cancer awareness and prevention. Then for every bra sold Wacoal will make an additional donation.

Red Lion DowntownerA Neighborhood Watch Summit will be held this weekend at the Red Lion Downtowner in the Boise area. This is a chance for any neighborhood to learn more to make their watch program better or to start a watch program in their community. You must register ahead of time by calling 570-6073. There is a $15 per person fee but it includes breakfast and lunch along with materials. The summit is from 8 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday October 10th.

Oregon Trail Church of GodThe Oregon Trail Church of God will be holding its annual Barbeque and Auction tomorrow (Saturday) with many unique and collectable items. One of the highlights of the sale is handmade quilts donated by members of the church. The evening starts at 4:30 with the barbeque and the auction will follow. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. The proceeds go to the church for on going programs. The church is located at the Middleton exit of Interstate 84.

World Center for Birds of PreyIf you have ever wanted to see birds of prey in flight, then starting today is your chance. Several of the raptors will be doing demonstration flights at 3 pm each day from Thursday through Sunday all during the month of October, weather permitting. In addition a new exhibit is under construction for the California Condors. The exhibit should be ready by spring and will be largest exhibit of the large birds outside California.
