The show is a chance to see and learn how to restore rare and collectable dolls. In addition a special "Reborn Seminar" will be offered by Debbie Henshaw. The show will run from 10 am to 4 pm with a $3 charge for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. The church is located off the intersection of Linden and Farmway in Canyon County. Simplot Performing Arts Academy Annex"Swan Lake" Idaho style is coming to the Special Events Center at Boise State University this weekend. There are only 4 performances starting Friday evening. Boys and Girls Club, Garden CityThe Garden City Chamber Fun Run and Community Fair is coming on Saturday October 10th at the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County. The fun run is either one mile or 5k and can be a walk or run. To get signed up or more information you can click here. The fun run starts at 10 am and then the rest of the day is a community fair. The proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

Boise CentreThe "Women's Show" for the Women's Fitness Celebration opens today and will run through tomorrow. The show features information, demonstrations, samples and shopping for everything fitness and health. The doors open each day at 10 am and remain open until 8 pm. If you are already signed up for the Fitness Celebration the show is free, if not there is a $3 charge. You can also sign up at the show and this is you packet pickup opportunity.

Idaho Historical Museum"Museum Comes to Life" is this Saturday at the State Historical Museum in Julia Davis Park. This year there will be an even broader range of historical time as we will have re-enactors from medieval times all the way through space explorations. The NASA Exploration Trailer will be here as well and for the first time since renovation started the Pioneer Village will be open to the public. The hours are from 10 am to 5 pm and it is free.

West Valley Medical CenterA free prostate cancer screening is being offered this Thursday night September 24th at West Valley Medical Center in the Caldwell area. This screening will help with early detection for one of the most common cancers in men and also the most treatable if detected early. Screenings begin at 7 pm in the Kaley Auditorium and all men 50 and over are encouraged to have annual screens and men 45 and older if there is a history in their family of prostate cancer. In addition two pair of Boise State tickets will be given out to two of the participants.

This is a gift from the state to everyone but is targeted to women to help make sound financial decisions for their families. Square and Round Dance CenterThis is National Ballroom Dance Week and if you have always wanted to learn or improve your skills this is your chance. Inexpensive lessons will be offered the next two Sundays in a row at the Square and Round Dance Center off Diamond Lane and South Gowen Road. Construction in the area means you have to head south on Orchard to Gowen road and then follow the detour to Diamond lane and turn west to find the center. In addition on October 3rd two of the featured dancers from "Dancing with the Stars" will be part of a special night and the cost is $25 per person. You can click here for more information.

Qwest ArenaThe "Boise Feis by the River" is coming to Qwest Arena in Boise. This Irish Dance competition features individual and teams from all over North America. The one day event is Saturday September 19th and starts at 8 am with the doors opening at 7 am. This is a free event and you can see dancers of all ages competing at all levels of Irish Dance. Assistance League of BoiseOperation School Bell has begun for the Assistance League of Boise. New clothing and school supplies are being given to children in need identified by their schools. Help is needed to restock the shelves with more new clothing. Cash donations are accepted at all times and donations can be taken at the League's Thrift Store just off Glenwood across from Memorial Stadium and the Fairgrounds.

Nampa Civic CenterOktoberfest is coming to the Nampa Civic Center on September 25th from 5 pm to 10 pm. The annual celebration is a German tradition, but you don't have to be German to enjoy the evening's activities of song, food, dance and drink. There is a $6 charge for adults and $4 for children. For those who want to have a traditional celebration the Fairfield Inn will be offering free transportation and a discount on rooms.

Julia Davis Park"See Spot Walk" is coming on October 3rd and starts in Julia Davis Park. This is the largest dog walk in the state with more than 3,000 dogs and their owners raising funds for the Idaho Humane Society. Julia Davis Park"Art in the Park" opened today in Julia Davis Park. This is one of the major events of summer and raises funds for the Boise Art Museum. Parking is always challenging for this event but this year it is more challenging because of the Boise State home game tomorrow against the University of Miami, Ohio. Shuttle service is being offered throughout the day to help and we have the shuttle schedule linked on our home page.

Idaho State University, MeridianThe Idaho State University Meridian campus is now open. There are more than 700 students enrolled in the Health Sciences with opportunities for full time, part time, and continuing education students. Everyone is invited to an open house next Thursday September 17th from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. There is no charge to attend and if you click here you can get the address and directions.

Veterans Memorial ParkThe second annual Boise Valley POW/MIA Motorcycle Rodeo and Awareness Rally is this weekend at the Gem Country Fairgrounds in Emmett. This is a three day event starting on Friday with most of the activities happening on Saturday. The gates open at 9 am and will feature everything from a show and shine to smoke jumpers to a motorcycle rodeo. The cost is $10 per person for one day or all three days with the proceeds going to the National League of Families and the Idaho State Veterans Home.

Nampa Civic Center"Sweet Charity" is the latest production for Music Theatre Idaho and will open this weekend at the Nampa Civic Center. You will know the music from this 1960's Broadway Classic. Sky Dive IdahoSky Dive Idaho is combining efforts with the Main Street Mile to bring more awareness to prostate cancer and the need for annual screening by men. Prostate cancer is very treatable if it is detected early and treatment begins right away. Together these two groups are trying to raise enough money to purchase a mobile screening for southwest Idaho and be able to have screenings offered throughout the year and in remote areas of the Gem State.

Sustainable FuturesSustainable Futures recycles glass products by turning empty bottles into glasses and helps with a rehabilitation program for women who are currently incarcerated or have recently been released on probation. The bottles are donated from local restaurants and the glasses created are sold on line and sold back to the restaurants. The glasses are beautifully etched with special designs. Bronco StadiumIt is Bronco game day as Boise State will host Oregon in division one football action. The game will be televised by ESPN tonight starting at 8:15 pm on the blue turf of Bronco Stadium. The day will be hot but it should be a perfect evening with temperatures in the mid 80's at the beginning of the game and in the mid 70's by the end of the game.

Stagecoach Theatre"Duck Hunter Shoots Angel" is the latest production for Stagecoach Theatre. The comedy takes place in Alabama where two simple brothers go out duck hunting but think they have shot an angel. A tabloid reporter from New York comes to investigate and the comedy goes from there. If you want to reserve tickets in advance you can call the box office at 342-2000 and the theatre is located in the covered portion of the Hillcrest Shopping Center just off Overland and Orchard. BLM CorralsThe annual BLM adoption of Horses will be on Saturday and Sunday September 12th and 13th at the corals south of Boise. The action starts at 8 am on Saturday morning with a trail competition with the adoption starting at 10 am. The adoption on Sunday starts at 10 am. If you would like to preview the horses you can see them on Friday night starting at 6 pm. The corals are located south of town on Pleasant Valley road on the west side just look for the brown signs.
