Fire departments from around the area are taking advantage of a special trailer on load from Wendover, Nevada. The trailer is also here as a demonstration for state and local leaders to see the benefit of one day acquiring one for firefighters in Idaho. Westy's Garden LanesBowl for Kids' Sake is coming next month. There are three opportunities for you to help the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Two sessions will be held at Westy's Garden Lanes on February 21 at 2 pm and 4 pm. The other session will be at Meridian Lanes on February 28 at 4 pm. Light My FireThe "Light My Fire" Ball is coming to the Doubletree Riverside on February 7th. The dinner and auction will help raise funds for the Boise and Meridian Fire Departments for their burn out fund and for the fire safe house. The burn out fund is critical for victims of fire to lend them an immediate helping hand. The cost for the dinner is $55 per person or a table of 10 for $500 dollars. The Caldwell Wildcats are a unified team and will be one of 6 teams representing team USA at the World Winter Games. Stagecoach Theatre"Any Body Home" is the latest production for Stagecoach Theatre. The farce features a dead body being drug around and being hidden as a major part of the comedy shenanigans. The show opens this Friday night and will run for the next four weeks at the theatre in the covered portion of the Hillcrest Shopping Center off Overland and Orchard. Idaho Center"Walking with Dinosaurs" is ready to open tomorrow at the Idaho Center in the Nampa area. This is a truly unique show designed for the entire family and will give you the feeling of actually walking with dinosaurs. The show will open tomorrow and run through Sunday. We needed to spend the morning outside because of the snow but you will enjoy the show from inside.

Life's KitchenLife's Kitchen is starting a new session of classes for students identified as "at risk". Many of the students are referred by the Juvenile Court system or by the schools. Life's Kitchen gives the students skills in the kitchen for future work and life skills to help them become productive members of the community. Most students find work in the local area immediately after graduation.

Foundations AcademyFoundations Academy is nearing completion but needs additional funding. The classical Christian school for children age Kindergarten through 12th grades is scheduled to open in August but the additional funding will be used for the gymnasium.
