Twin Falls

It's the 27th annual Western Days Parade and its one of the largest in the state. The event is part of the Western Days celebration which involves many other activities throughout the day. Entries for the parade come from the community and around the area with a focus on featuring all aspects of life in the Magic Valley and Idaho.

Black Dog Clays

The 5th annual Ronald McDonald House sporting clays event is the weekend. The shooting competition will be a Black Dog Clays off south Cole road this weekend. The Saturday portion is already filled but there are openings on Sunday and you can call the Ronald McDonald House for more information or to get signed up for Sunday's action by calling 336-5478.

Boise Centre on the Grove

It's time to be a kid again. The annual "Kid for a Night" event is tonight at the Boise Centre on the Grove. This is a time for adults to act like children again with a series of games and activities to bring back our youth while raising funds for St. Luke's Children's Hospital. There are a limited number of tickets still available and you should call 381-2123 for more information or to get tickets.

City Light Home for Women and Children

The Ride for the Rescue is this Saturday and will benefit the Boise Rescue Mission. The event starts with registration at 8:00 am at the City Light Home for Women and Children on 14th and Jefferson with kickstands up at 9:00 am and the ride will go up Highway 55 to Hot Springs Campground near Garden Valley. The ride is open to all bikers and the cost is $25 per person or $35 for couples and there is overnight camping available for an extra $15. Parkcenter Pond

Free Fishing Day is coming on Saturday June 7th. It's a day everyone can trying fishing all over the state without a license. A free clinic will also be held at Parkcenter Pond for children and adults from 9 am to 2 pm. Volunteers will be helping teach about fishing and there will be give-a-ways for those who participate. There is no charge and everyone is welcome to attend.

Stagecoach Theatre

"Moon over the Brewery" is the latest production for Stagecoach Theatre. The romantic comedy is about a 13-year-old genius who calls on an imaginary friend whenever her mother has a new boyfriend and how he friend views the boyfriend. The show opens this weekend and will run for the next three weekends with one matinee. Call the box office at 342-2000 for tickets as they frequently sell out. The theatre is located in the covered portion of the Hillcrest shopping center off Overland and Orchard.

Discovery Center of Idaho

A new exhibit will be opening at the Discovery Center of Idaho in June. The exhibit is called "Make It" and it features opportunities for everyone to try making things and seeing how well they work in a special learning environment. The opening is Saturday June 14th and will run through the summer months. The Discovery Center is also open today, Memorial Day from 10 am to 5 pm, so it's a great place to bring the family if you are looking for something to do today.

Caldwell Rodeo Grounds

The District 2 High School Rodeo finals will be this weekend at the Caldwell Rodeo Grounds. The finals are actually two separate events on Sunday and Monday but will involve the same competitors. The events will both start at 10 am each day and there is no charge to attend. You can see some great rodeo action suited for the entire family and there is no charge.

Bogus Creek Ranch

Northwest Lineman College

The Northwest Lineman College in Meridian trains utility workers all over the world. The students come here from other parts of the world and from right here in the Treasure Valley. The graduates find jobs everywhere and one of the biggest employers is Idaho Power with many of the students working locally and they are trained to be prepared to work in all conditions.

I-184 Connector

This is National Seat Belt Awareness time and there will be stepped up patrols with officers looking to issue citations. Every year we have fatalities directed related to a lack of seat belt usage. The stepped up patrols will continue until June 1st with fines increasing for younger people in automobiles not using restraints. It starts with a $10 fine for adult's increases to $51.50 for children and $69 for infants. An unrestrained infant is also a primary offense and you can be pulled over for that alone.

Nampa

Today is Armed Forces Day and part of that celebration is the Nampa Exchange club "Parade America". The parade will go from Nampa High School down 12th avenue to 3rd street then back up 16th to Holly Street and will end at Northwest Nazarene University. The parade steps off at 11:00 am this morning and expected to last about an hour.

Idaho Military History Museum

Tomorrow is Armed Forces Day and you can help honor members of military at the Idaho Military History Museum by Gowen Field. Civil War and WWII re-enactors will be on hand along with many displays from several periods of military history. The City of Trees Pipes and Drums Band will perform and concessions will be available. This is a free event and children's activities will be included so bring the entire family from 10 am to 4 pm.

Lake Hazel Middle School

The Ore-Ida Council of the Boy Scouts and the Silver Sage Council of the Girl Scouts will be hosting their annual Scout Fair at Lake Hazel Middle School tomorrow from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will feature a Blackhawk Helicopter from the Idaho National Guard and members of the BLM Smoke Jumpers, Fire Department, Law Enforcement and the Marines. The fair is free and a great way to learn more about scouting for boys and girls.

Boise Watershed Center

International Museum Day is this Sunday May 18th and it will involve all the museums and education centers in the valley. The day will be celebrated at the Idaho Botanical Garden and will welcome the newest member of the group, the Boise Watershed Center. This facility is having its grand opening today and will be open during normal business hours and it's free to visit. On Sunday from noon to 5 pm the Idaho Botanical Garden will be hosting all other museums and you can visit for free and learn about the other facilities in addition to touring the garden and the old Penitentiary.

Zoo Boise

It's time for Zoo Daze at Zoo Boise. This Sunday May 18th there will be special activities and special guests at the zoo. This is the official kick off for the summer season and everyone can get a sneak preview of the new Africa exhibit still under construction. Make-a-Wish Office

College Church of the Nazarene

The Idaho Mennonite World Relief Festival is this Saturday at the College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa. The event features a sale, silent auction and live auction. Many hand made quilts will be up for auction and the proceeds from the event will go to help provide relief worldwide to impoverished and war torn countries. The show is on Saturday only from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. There is also a sneak preview of the live auction items on Friday night from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Boise Centre on the Grove

The Global 21 Conference is tomorrow at the Boise Centre on the Grove and is an opportunity for businesses to find ways to do business overseas and to invest in opportunities for business with foreign countries. High Desert Harley Davidson

The 5h annual MDA Ride for the Cure is this Sunday. The motorcycle starts at High Desert Harley Davidson in Meridian and raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The cost is $25 per person and it includes breakfast, ride pin, one player card and lunch after the ride. The fun run starts with registration from 9 am to 11 am and will include a ride around the valley. All riders are welcome.

Nampa Civic Center

The Idaho Arts Festival is in full swing at the Nampa Civic Center and will go on through 9:00 pm tonight and tomorrow from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. This celebration of the arts features all areas and will be highlighting talent from all over the state. In addition tonight there will be a special jazz performance and everyone is invited to bring their instrument or voice and join in with the group on stage at 7:00 pm. Tomorrow the finals will be held. There is a $10 charge for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.

Main Post Office

The annual Letter Carriers Food Drive is tomorrow and we need your help. Many of us received a post card in the mail earlier this week and a bag to make a donation. All you need to do is simply put your donation in the bag and put it out on your mailbox before 9:00 am tomorrow morning. The Letter Carriers will then pick up the donation and get it to the Idaho Food Bank and to the Salvation Army in the Nampa area.

Idaho State Police

Aggressive Drivers be warned. A new campaign started this morning involving aggressive driving on Interstate 84 with Idaho State Police Officers onboard Semi-Trucks and looking for violations. The officers relay information about drivers to other law enforcement officers who make stops and issue citations. This program is designed to curb problems with aggressive driving in the corridor from Caldwell to the Stagestop.

Municipal Park

A special camp for children with Asthma will be held on June 24th at Municipal Park in Boise and the cost is $25 but scholarships are available if needed. The camp helps children learn to live with their disease and to know they are not alone. In August there is a week long camp from the 4th to the 8th in the Sawtooth Mountains. Riverglen Junior High

The Cycle for Independence will be on Saturday May 17th and will start and finish at Riverglen Junior High. The event is a fundraiser for the National Federation of the Blind of Idaho. There are three routes to choose from, 10 miles, 25 miles or the Metric Century. This is a non-competitive ride and is open to everyone. The annual Diabetes ride is coming up on Sunday May 18th and will be in the foothills north of Eagle. There is a minimum donation of $30 but there are prizes for those who raise the most in donations. The proceeds of the ride will help Humphreys Diabetes Center and Camp Hodia. Children's Home

The celebration continues for the Children's Home and its 100th year anniversary. On Wednesday of this week internationally known artist Jane Wooster Scott will be at the home on Warm Springs Avenue to meet everyone and will be signing prints of her new painting of the home that was formerly the orphanage for Boise. The Tony Bennett concert is Saturday May 10th at the Morrison Center and there are still some tickets available through Select-a-Seat.

Today marks the first open house for the St. Jude's Dream Home in the Star area. The home is located just off the intersection of Plummer and Floating Feather Roads. Washington Group Plaza

The motorcycle awareness ride is this Saturday. The Idaho Coalition for Motorcycle Safety (ICMS) sponsors the ride which is designed to make all of us more aware of the number of motorcycles on the road and to look twice. The ride starts at Sandy Point at Lucky Peak at 1 pm with check-in at 11 am. The riders will travel to the Washington Group Plaza for a final rally. There is no charge to participate.
