The show opens this weekend at Boise Little Theatre and will run through the middle of September. There are two matinees on the 13th and 19th. Expo IdahoThe best of the best for Arm Wrestling will be determined at the Western Idaho Fair. The competition is a one day event at the fair and will start at 2 pm. The registration opened at noon with several divisions for Men, Women, and Children including divisions for those who have never tried competitive arm wrestling. The cost if $15 for adults and 10 dollars for children under the age of 18 but that includes your tournament shirt. If you are interested you need to get to the stage next to Western Town.

Ada County Juvenile Court ServicesThe Scales of Justice Bass Tournament is coming on September 27th and will be at C.J. Strike Reservoir. Boaters are needed to help with the tournament that is for juvenile offenders who have made great improvements. It all started with a young offender, Tommy, who Judge John Vehlow told he would take fishing if he would just complete his probation. Tommy did and went fishing with the judge. The idea of the tournament came from that successful trip. If you are a fisherman and can help please call 577-4891 and ask for Amber.

Grove PlazaThe United Way Flapjack Feed is today at the Grove Plaza in downtown Boise. This is the kickoff for the annual United Way campaign. Everyone is invited with the breakfast starting at 7:30 am and for $5 each you can have all the pancakes you can eat. There are special contests involving the celebrities and volunteers who are doing the cooking and all the fun is to help get everyone excited about giving so many ways by giving to the United Way.

Expo Idaho - Noon ShowOne of the most popular shows at the Western Idaho Fair this year is the "Amazing Rainforest Experience". This show is a fun and educational experience at the same time. The show which runs three times a day is located close to the Les Bois Racetrack and the times are 2:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 8:30 pm. When you attend plan to be early and you'll leave with a new understanding of the rainforest and the creatures that live there.

Expo IdahoIt's opening day at the Western Idaho Fair at Expo Idaho. The Idaho Meth Project has a special event tonight that will feature the group "Parachute" and several local bands. The groups were selected by listeners to KISS-103 radio. The message of the event and the Idaho Meth Project is "not even once" when it comes to trying meth. Wright Congregational ChurchThe Boise Urban Garden School is a special 7 week program from children age 10-15 where they learn the art and purpose of gardening. The school offers insight into the food supply, harvesting and cooking of the bounty of the garden. To raise funds to continue the program a "Garden Bistro Dinner" will be held Saturday September 12th at the Wright Congregational Church just off Orchard and Franklin. Simplot Stadium, CaldwellThe Buck-a-roo Breakfast for the Caldwell Night Rodeo starts this morning at 6:30 am and runs until 9:30 am and will go for the next four days. The cost is $5 per person but children under 11 can get a coloring sheet from local merchants are get in free. The merchants are D & B Supply, Key Bank, KIZN Radio and the Idaho Press Tribune.

Falcon Crest GolfThe J.R. Simplot Memorial Golf Tournament is today at the Falcon Crest Golf Course and raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House in Boise. The house is a home away from home for families with children undergoing treatment at local hospitals. The Ambrose SchoolThere is a special open house for The Ambrose School, formerly known as Foundations Academy. This is the new educational facility at the corner of Locus Grove and Chinden. The open house will be Friday and Saturday. The hours are Friday 9 am to 2 pm and Saturday 8 am to 12 noon. There is also a "back to school" type sale as left over furniture, books, clothing, and supplies from the move will be sold to help raise funds.

Idaho Horse ParkMore than 150 paint horses will be involved in a Paint Horse Show at the Idaho Horse Park next door to the Idaho Center. The action will run from 7:30 am to 6 pm on Friday and Sunday and 7:30 am to 10 pm on Saturday. There are 8 judges from all over the nation who will be at the show featuring horses from all over the west. The event is free to the public to watch and everyone is welcome.

Nampa Civic CenterCommunity Fun Night is tomorrow night (Wednesday) at the Nampa Civic Center. This is an evening of entertainment designed for the entire family and will feature many local groups. The activities start at 6 pm and go on until 10 pm and there is no charge as this is a way for the Civic Center to give back to the community. Special activities are also planned for the children including a climbing wall.

Saint AlphonsusYour help is needed for the upcoming school season. Saint Alphonsus is gathering school supplies. "Tools for Teaching" is what the effort is being called and you can drop off supplies at the valet parking at the hospital. Those services are open from 6 am to 6 pm and this effort is everyday this week, Monday through Friday. Supplies needed are all the standard supplies for elementary age and will be distributed to schools all over the Treasure Valley.

Indian Creek, Caldwell"Blues on the Banks" is coming to Caldwell next weekend August 14th and 15th. This 12th annual festival will honor Brad Carrow and the proceeds will go to the Caldwell Youth Scholarship Fund. There is a $10 charge per person each night but will feature 7 different bands. The times are 7pm to 11:30pm on Friday and 4pm to 11pm on Saturday. The event will be along the banks of Indian Creek in Caldwell. Click here for more information.

Natural Resources CenterSmokey Bear is turning 65 on Sunday and a special party will be held at the Idaho Botanical Garden from 12 pm to 4 pm and there is no charge for admission during the time of Smokey's Birthday celebration. Activities will include cake and ice cream and special events for children. Smokey wants to remind all of us to be careful with fire in the forest and to always follow the rules to be safe.

Zoo BoiseThe Ice Cream Zoofari will be tomorrow (Thursday) at Zoo Boise. This is the special event with special family priced admission. In addition to your admission, for $3 you can get a hot dog, chips, a drink and of course ice cream. While at the zoo you can now go to the Africa Plains exhibit by boat. The rides are one way and cost an extra $2.

Meridian FireThe annual Meridian Fireman's Association Salmon Barbeque is this Friday night. This is a fundraiser for the Meridian Fire Department to benefit the burn out fund and help purchase special equipment. The tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. Children age 12-5 are $5 and under 5 are free. Seniors are $10 each. The event will starts at 5pm at the Dairy Barn near the Speedway in Meridian.
