Statecoach Theatre

“The Sensuous Senator” is the latest production for Stagecoach Theatre. The comedy farce has a mature theme and may not be suitable for the entire family but is very funny and filled with lots of physical comedy. The show will open on January 4th and will run for 4 weekends. You need to call the box office at 342-2000 to make ticket reservations and the theatre is located in the covered portion of the Hillcrest shopping center at the corner of Overland and Orchard.

Boise Fire

The Boise Fire Department Firefighters calendar for 2008 is ready for sale. The proceeds from the calendar will go directly to the burnout fund. When ever a family is displaced because of a fire the Red Cross works with the firefighters and money from the burnout fund is given in families for immediate needs like shelter, food and clothing. The fund helps fill the critical time before insurance kicks in. The calendars are $15 each and are available at any of the fire stations.

Faith Lutheran Church

Members of Job’s Daughters #8 and Eastern Star in Caldwell are trying to make Christmas a little better for eleven families. The families were identified by area schools and the Job’s Daughters learned more about the families and the children involved. They went shopping with the Eastern Star members because of donations from businesses and individuals in the area and will put on a special Christmas dinner for the families today.

Keep Kids Warm is a program to help provide heating assistance to families with children who are struggling during the winter season. KIZN-FM radio is helping with an on-air auction. Throughout the next three days (Friday) you can hear a description of the item on the air and call the radio station at 424-9292 to make a bid. Salvation Army

The toy distribution begins today for the Salvation Army for this holiday season. The “Toy and Joy” store is where qualified parents come to pick out gifts for their children. There is still a shortage of items for boys and girls age 10-12. The Army also needs more turkeys as they are still need about 200 more. If you would like to help you should bring your donation to the Salvation Army location at 19th and Bannock in Boise.

Hickory Farms

The Boise Soroptimists are preparing to distribute gifts for the holiday season to seniors. These are the gifts donated by everyone in the community based on a list published in the Idaho Statesman. Those of you who gave through that list know the gifts are being distributed today to nursing homes and care facilities by volunteers. The gifts are going to seniors who have been identified as not receiving anything if it weren’t for this program.

Children's Home Society

The Children’s Home Society is getting ready for its 100th anniversary. The Children’s Home was the original orphanage and has a rich history. They also have some blanks and they need help. They know that many of the former children and staff of the orphanage are still living here and they need to fill in the blanks. If you can help, call them at 343-7813. They also have produced a calendar for sale as a fundraiser that features many important dates and historic photos.

BSU Student Union Building

Boise State’s Alpha Phi Sigma chapter of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society is trying to make Christmas a little brighter for 25 children being served by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) through the Family Advocate Program. They need your help as they sell raffle tickets for prizes. The tickets are just $1 each and can purchased at the Criminal Justice Department in the library at BSU, in the Student Union Building or you can call 426-4162.

Primary Health Medical Group

A coat drive is being conducted by Primary Health Medical Group to help benefit families being aided by the Boise Rescue Mission. Coats of all sizes either gently used or new can be dropped off at any of the 13 locations of Primary Health until December 15th. The coats will be given to children by the Rescue mission, just in time for the winter season.

Wal-mart, Meridian

The Season of Hope continues with your chance to help at the Wal-Mart in Meridian. The location is just off the intersection of Fairview and Eagle road. You can help by making a donation of non-perishable food or a brand new unwrapped toy or both. The food donations go to the Boise Rescue Mission and the toys are for the Toys for Tots being conducted by the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

Alano Club

It’s the Grintch with a different touch. No that’s not a spelling mistake it is the Grintch. The latest production for Prairie Dog Productions and will run through January 5th at the Alano club just off Cassia and Latah in Boise. The musical comedy parody farce features cheering for the good guys, booing for the bad guys and lots of fun songs and action. You can call the box office at 336-7383 to get you tickets in advance.

Arts West School

Arts West, school for the performing arts in the Eagle area will be presenting its Christmas show on Saturday December 15th at 7:00 pm. The show will be at the Ester Simplot Performing Arts Academy Annex. The cost for the show is $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 12 and under. Boise Fire Department

The holiday food drive is on and Fire stations across the valley are helping out. 79,000 children don’t have consistent access to meals and the Idaho Food Bank needs our help. You can drop off donations at any of the fire stations in the Treasure Valley. Collection barrels will be in place until January 3rd. Donations should be non-perishable food items and can be dropped off from 8 am to 8 pm.

ZamZows

The Idaho Humane Society wants you to help Frankie and her friends. Frankie is a former shelter dog and is seeking help to raise funds for her friends still at the Humane Society. You can stop any ZamZows location in the valley make a donation to help with food and supplies for the animals still waiting for adoption. This is the 9th year for the program.

Boise High School

Boise High School students are participating in a spirited and fun competition to gather as much food as possible for the Salvation Army this holiday season. The students have set 4th period classes as the competition base and it means that language classes are competing as well as math and science. The objective is to gather the most food by weight with small prizes offered to the winning class. You can help as well by dropping off non-perishable food at the Boise High School office.

Timberline High School

The Boise Valley Chordsmen will have their annual Christmas show this Saturday at Timberline High School. The show is designed for the entire family and will cost $5 per person. This is a variety show with everything from quartets to the entire choir singing Christmas favorites. The show will start at 2:30 pm and there is only one performance.
