Boise Main Post Office

Saturday is the annual Letter Carriers Food Drive. We spent the morning at the Boise main post office talking about the need for food donations throughout the valley. The needs in our area continue all year long. During the holidays we often think about charitable donations for the needy, but at this time of the year the shelves empty out for the Food Bank. The letter carriers of the valley will be gathering food donations we put out this weekend. A reminder card will go out this week, along with a plastic bag. All we need to do is put our donation of non-perishable food in the bag and place next to our mailbox or hang it from the box. The letter carriers will do the rest with a goal of gathering more than 200,000 pounds of food to help throughout the rest of the year.

Water Safety

Spring and summer season is when we spend more time out and near water than any other time of the year. We spent the morning at a private residence on the Boise Bench to discuss water safety with experts from St. Lukes Regional Medical Center. Each of the experts discussed the importance of teaching our children to be safe around water. We also saw the latest products available to help protect and prevent accidental drowning. Swimming pools and Hot tubs are just one problem area. There’s a greater danger from irrigation canals and rivers. Children are naturally attracted to water and it only takes a matter of just a few minutes to have a tragic accident. Now is the time to think safety.
