Teen girl rescued from abandoned mill

Firefighters rescued a 13-year-old girl Tuesday night after she fell while playing in an abandoned grain mill.

The mill is on Main Street near Simplot Boulevard in Caldwell.

Firefighters say the girl climbed a ladder inside the building to the top, then fell about 20 feet off a platform and got stuck.

The rescue effort went well. By 9pm the girl was safe.

"They said they were just playing. They said they come over here all the time and play. It is marked no trespassing and there is a fence around," said Caldwell Fire Deputy Chief Steve Donahue.

Rescuers say she had minor injuries, including a possible broken ankle.
