Police: Hotel Clerk Robbed Again By Same Man

The Shilo Inn on Main street in downtown Boise was robbed this morning. This is the second time in the last 30 days it was robbed. The robbery happened around 1:30. Police say it was the same man and he robbed the same woman working the front desk.

Lieutenant Bryan Hagler with the Boise Police Department says the suspect entered the lobby and demanded money from the woman. Hagler says the man told the woman he had a gun, but never showed it to her.

He then left on foot towards the Greenbelt with the cash. That's the same direction the robber from last month took off to. The woman told police she was positive it was the same guy that robbed her on Friday, March 13th.

"These things don't usually happen around here," said Cheri Anderson, Shilo Inn Manager, last month.

The man is described as white with a darker complexion, around 5' 5" to 5' 6" inches tall. Police say he's 35 to 50 years old, clean shaven, and wearing a black hoodie.

Hagler says the woman was pushed down to the ground by the man, but she wasn't hurt.

If you have information about this crime you can call crimestoppers at 343-COPS.

Babies moved after steam leak at St. Luke's

A steam leak Thursday night forced the evacuation of part of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Boise campus of St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.

St. Luke's spokeswoman Beth Toal says a coil in the humidification system ruptured, sending steam into the NICU, which is on the main building's second floor, and into the emergency department, which is on the first floor. Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan says temperatures exceeded 100 degrees in the affected area.

Toal says eight babies in the NICU were moved to other areas of the hospital, to protect them from the heat. The emergency department continued to take walk-in patients. No one was injured.

Missing man's family is asking for help

The family of a missing Boise man is asking for the public's help in finding him. Peter O'Brien, 44, is a native of New Zealand and has been missing for a week. O'Brien's brother and sister flew in from Australia to help with the search.

"It's totally out of character he's usually in regular contact with the family... with Skype every weekend and during the week. He's not the sort of person to go out and not tell people what he's doing," said Michael O'Brien, Peter's brother.

Michael O'Brien says he, along with investigators, has been searching in the foothills and surrounding areas for Peter. O'Brien lives near Camel's Back Park on the north end. His brother says Peter is a big outdoorsman and enjoys hiking.

O'Brien moved to north Boise from California a few months ago. He was last seen on Thursday after he dropped off his kids at his former wife's house. O'Brien's brother says Peter's ex-wife knew something was wrong after he didn't pick up his kids on Saturday.

His family says his car was still at his home, along with his wallet and jacket. Police say there is no evidence that a crime has been committed.

Next Step in Wolf Delisting

The next big step in removing gray wolves from the endangered species list is now in place. Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published the rule for delisting the wolves on the federal register. It will take effect on May 4th.

That's when Idaho Fish and Game will officially take over management of the state's estimated 850 wolves. However, the Defenders of Wildlife and 11 other conservation groups plan to challenge the delisting in court.

They argue the management plans in Idaho and Montana allow too many wolves to be killed. Idaho Fish and Game has set a wolf hunting season for this fall, but a lot can happen in court before then.

Virus Expected to Get Worse

A computer worm that's already affected 20-million PC's is expected to get even worse today. The conficker worm attacks windows based computers -- and can spread from computer to computer - and you need to be aware of it.

Microsoft is offering a quarter of a million dollars for information leading to those responsible.

At Boise State University they have about 5-thousand computers -- BSU's information security officer Bob Henry says they've been preparing for the conficker worm. And he says even if a personal laptop with the worm logged in to the network - protections are in place.

From schools to local businesses, technical departments are well aware of this worm. Mike Markham with the City of Boise says 15-hundred computers on the network are protected.

A computer security expert says the worm uses computers to send out spam. Now - here's what you can do. If you are able to type in the web address of a virus security company like Mcafee and Symantec, you're probably already armed with virus fighting software. If not, you may want to update your software, to keep your computer safe as soon as you can.

The Boise School District has 10-thousand computers on its network. A spokesman for the district says they are relying on regular updates and virus protection software. In the Nampa School District---the tech department is aware of the issue and taking steps to protect the network.
