Investigators had planned to start looking for a cause of the original fire this morning.

Disaster decalaration for Benewah County

Governor Otter is declaring a need for assistance in Northern Idaho for those being hit by the extreme weather conditions. He says there's significant ice buildup on the St. Joe River -- and the ice must be broken up to prevent flooding.

Without the ice breakup, there is a strong possibility of flooding in communities along the St. Joe River, including the community of St. Maries. Bridges, roads, homes and farmland are also threatened. Benewah County officials are requesting State of Idaho emergency funding to hire commercial icebreakers, and the governor's disaster declaration provides a vehicle to assist with that funding.
