Idaho State Police arrested a man overnight who lead them on a car chase around Boise.
Around 1am Friday morning an ISP trooper pulled over Douglas Thimsen, 19 for speeding on 44th Street just South of Chinden Boulevard.
The trooper says he smelled alcohol in the car. After some tests, the trooper told Thimsen he was under arrest for driving under the influence.
Trooper Josh Hurley tells us, the man tried to run to his car, and after a brief struggle, he drove away.
A police pursuit began with speeds up to 65mph.
Officers finally stopped him by using a PIT maneuver on the Boise Bench on Orchard and Emerald.
"At this time in the morning, luckily there's not many people out and he was out on residential streets where not many people are driving around," said Trooper Josh Hurley ISP.
Thimsen is charged with DUI, resisting arrest, battery on an officer, and eluding police.
