A car slammed into a child care center in Eagle this morning. The crash happened at the New Horizon Child Care Center on State Street. Police say the man who caused the damage is in the Ada County jail right now.

Eagle police say they were doing a routine traffic stop that turned into a car chase. It happened just after midnight. Officers say the man behind the wheel was Edward Bartkowski, 62.

Ada County Deputies say Bartkowski wouldn't pull over, he hit the gas and led police into a subdivision. Police decided to end the pursuit at that point, but a short time later, they picked it back up when police spotted Bartkowski in his car.

Less than a mile later he crashed into the building. No one was in the building during the crash. The people who run the facility are on scene looking over the damage.
