Attorney General Gonzales Resigns
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales announced his resignation earlier this morning.
Gonzales was at the center of a political firestorm for President Bush over the sacking of eight federal prosecutors, which critics in Congress complained were politically motivated.

Canyon County Sheriff's Office investigating late-night stabbing incident
Canyon County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a female suspect involved in a stabbing incident late last night. Detectives received word around 10 p.m. that a California woman had checked into Mercy Medical.
The woman stated that she had been stabbed 30 minutes earlier by a 41-year-old Nampa woman on Lewis Lane. The victim is in serious but stable condition. Detectives say the two women are acquaintances.

Boise Police investigating shots fired call at hotel
Police are investigating a shots fired report at the Ameritel Inn in the 7400 block of Overland Road. Officers say a man woke up to a loud bang when he noticed his mirror had been shattered. The man called the front desk who called police. When officers arrived they found a bullet hole in the wall above the headboard of the bed. Officers went to the next room down the hall and found a woman with a gun. The woman says she does not know why the gun went off. Besides firing a weapon, police also arrested the woman because they found meth in her room.

Dead body found in Boise River
Canoers made a grizzly discovery in the Boise River near 44th Street Sunday morning - after finding a dead body floating in the river.
It happened before noon near 44th St. Canoers were in the river when they came across the dead male body. Boise and Garden City Police Officers immediately responded to the area, and began recovering the body.
The body is closer to the Boise City side of the river, so the Boise Fire Dive Team is taking the lead on the recovery effort. The body can be seen from the banks of the river.
It is unknown how long the body has been in the river, or what the cause of death may be in the case. Stay with KTVB.COM for updates as they happen.

Emergency crews responding to a fatal accident in Ada County
Paramedics are responding to a fatal accident on Meridian Road near West Aristocrate Drive. The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. Dispatchers tell us a semi-trailer and a car collided head on. There is one confirmed fatality. Emergency crews have shut down southbound Meridian Road, and have limited northbound traffic to just one lane. We have a crew headed to the scene and we will provide more information as soon as it comes in.

Garden City Police responding to armed robbery
Garden City Police are on the scene of an armed robbery at Chevron near 38th and Chinden.
Police tell us two teenage girls walked into the store, showed a gun and demanded money. The two girls took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses say they saw a white 4-door chrysler pulling away from the gas station headed southbound on Orchard.
Police are looking for two teenage girls between the ages of 16 and 19.
One is described as 5"6 to 5"7 with a heavy build and dark complexion.
The other as 5"3 to 5"4 with a slender build...and wearing a red baseball cap.

Mandatory evacuation order issued for Yellow Pine area
Governor Butch Otter and the Valley County Sheriff's office have issued a mandatory evacuation for the Yellow Pine area along Johnson Creek Road. The order goes into effect tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. The Valley County Sheriff's Office says this is a precautionary measure due to extreme fire danger.
Residents will be escorted in caravan fashion over Lick Creek Road from Yellow Pine to McCall. The Red Cross has established an evacuation center at the LDS church in McCall for anyone needing a place to stay. The evacuation will remain in place until such time as it is safe to return.

Aggravated battery in Garden City
Earlier this morning police responded to a call of aggravated battery at the Jackson's in Garden City.
I happened around 7 o'clock at the 37 hundred block of Chinden Boulevard.
Police say a man was waving a pocket knife at customers in the store when they arrived.
Police found another man with a minor stab wound to the back.
He was treated on scene and then taken to St. Alphonsus for futher treatment.
Officers don't know the reason behind the attack.

Police involved accident in Garden City
29 year old Jared Bissen hit a Garden City Officer early this morning.
It happened around 1:00am near the 46 hundred block.
Police say they pulled Bissen over for a routine traffic stop.
Bissen would not get out of the car,instead he took off, swerved and hit the officer.
The officer suffered a shoulder injury and minor cuts and bruises.
Police caught Bissen a few blocks down the road.

Police Pursuit
Ada County police are still looking for the driver of a dark S-U-V after he alluded police officers early this morning.
Police chased the car to the area of Fivemile and Bigwood Rd.

Nampa police investigate shooting
Nampa police are investigating an overnight shooting.
It happened just after one this morning in the 200 block of East Maine Ave.
Officers tell us bullets riddled one of the apartments and a nearby car.
Witnesses say they saw a group of suspects leaving the house, but so far we don't know if they're related to the shooting. .

Crash closed US 95
Police responded to a crash on US 95 around 5:30 this morning, involving a logging truck and two commercial vehicles.
No injuries are reported at this time...but police have blocked off US-95 in both directions from Exeter Street to Colt Street.

Ada county fire crews responded to a structure fire in boise early this morning.
It happened just before six on the 2 thousand block of 34th .
There are no reports of injuries at this time.

Structure fire Horseshoe Bend Rd.
Ada county fire crews are investigating a structure fire that killed three people earlier this morning.
It happened around 2:30am at a trailer park on Horseshoe Bend Rd.
The fire burned the trailer to the ground.
An adult male was declared dead at the scene and a child and adult female were taken to the hospital. Shortly after they were declared dead.
Reports from neighbors say that the family recently moved into the trailer and that they were deaf.

100 ton hay fire in Middleton
Fire crews are on the scene of a hay fire in Middleton near Cemetary rd.
It happened around 6:30 this morning.
There are reports of 100 tons of Hay on fire.
