Hazardous materials incident closes I-84

Interstate 84 is closed at this hour due to a hazardous materials incident.

Idaho State Police tells us the freeway will be closed for several hours - but would not say what triggered the incident. There are no injuries.

The freeway is closed from milepost 216 at Declo - to milepost 228 at Cotterel.

Westbound traffic on Interstate 86 is being diverted at milepost 16 at Raft River.

Caldwell girl killed in Oregon crash

Snowy weather may to be blame for a deadly accident in Malheur County.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a rollover accident on U.S. Highway 95 about six miles south of Jordan Valley.
Dispatchers say the crash happened just before 1 a.m.
A five-year old girl from Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name has not been released.
Three other people were flown by helicopter to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical center with critical injuries.

- McCall-Donelly High School and McCall Elementary school, due to boiler failure. The rest of the McCall-Donelly district will operate as normal

Snow advisory in affect for southwestern Idaho

A snow advisory will remain in effect in southwestern Idaho until 11 a.m.
A cold front moved in last night and spread snow across the west central Idaho mountains.
Snow will increase through the morning as more moisture comes in across Oregon.
Snow could reach accumulations of three to five inches below 6000 feet and up to eight inches on higher mountain peaks.
This snow advisory could cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility, and use caustion when driving.



Fire sparks in Nampa apartment

Fire sparks in Nampa apartment

Nampa firefighters are trying to determine what sparked a fire at an apartment complex.
Fire crews responded to the scene around 4:45 a.m., on the 400 block of Third Street South.
With the help of three local fire stations, crews quickly doused the flames.
No one was injured in the blaze.



Man stabbed in Boise

Man stabbed in Boise

One man is recovering this morning following a late night stabbing.
Boise Police tell us that a man was stabbed across the throat near the intersection of Cherry Lane and Shoshone.
The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.
Police say they have a suspect, and they are questioning him at this time.
Officers say they are still investigating the incident but, up to this point, no charges have been filed.

Two-alarm fire sparks at Ralfroy Motel in Boise

The Boise Fire Department is on the scene of a two-alarm fire at the Ralfroy Motel in the 2000 block of Federal Way, between Targhee and Salem. The fire started just before 4:30 a.m. That fire is now out. Firefighters say they believe a problem with an electrical sign sparked the fire. None of the people who were inside the motel at the time were injured. Emergency crews had closed Federal Way between Overland and Malad -- that roadway is now open again. Man shot and killed in Nampa home

Man shot and killed in Nampa home

The Nampa Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in a home at 11:24 p.m., on the 100 block of 20th Avenue South.
When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Daniel H. Ramirez, deceased, inside the residence from what appeared to be one or more gunshot wounds.
Police detectives are asking for your help locating a person who is a suspect in this homicide.
His name is Ichya Anthony Pennington, age 20, of Caldwell.
He is 5'08", 170 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes
Nampa Police would ask anyone with knowledge of Pennington's whereabouts to call dispatch at 465-2257, or Crimestoppers at 343-COPS.
Pennington is considered armed and dangerous.

Air quality alert: Yellow

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued a YELLOW air quality alert for today.
All open outdoor burning is prohibited in Ada and Canyon County by municipal and county ordinance. Fireplaces and woodstoves are also banned in many areas of the Treasure Valley.
Officials ask that you please consider taking some of the following actions to reduce air pollution during this time:
- Limit driving
- Combine trips & errands
- Don't burn outdoors



Grove Street Fire

Grove Street Fire

Boise firefighters quickly knocked out a structure fire on Grove Street between 15th and 16th streets last night. Firefighters tell us that smoke broke out sometime after 11:30 p.m. Police blocked off nearby streets while they combatted the fire. No one was inside the building at the time flames broke out.

Flames spark at Middleton High School.

Fire crews from Middleton, Star, and Eagle are responding to a two-alarm fire at Middleton High School, on the 500 block of West Main Street.
Dispatchers say the flames are showing from the gym weightroom.
Law enforcement officials are directing traffic in the area.
We have a crew headed to the scene and we will provide updates to this story as soon as they become available.
